Talk360 is one of Africa’s largest Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service providers.

It provides users with a reliable and affordable means of communication to stay in touch with their families, friends, and business associates abroad.

Currently, Talk360 supports over 30 currencies in Africa and the Middle East, more than 75 payment methods, and 1.25 million cash points of sale specifically targeting underserviced communities in Africa.

It is available on Google Play and the App Store. Talk360 has an average rating of 4.5, with more than one million users worldwide.

How does it work?

When you want to use the app to make a phone call, you can top-up the credit using your local currency and preferred payment method. 

Your current phone number is used as the caller ID, so the receiver does not notice any difference. 

When placing the call, the app establishes a connection to the internet, however, the receiver does not necessarily need to have an internet connection or the app installed on their phone since the caller is linked to the local telephone line.

“We’re a paid-for service but we mitigate the user experience where connectivity is an issue, particularly for the recipient. Most of the people that use the app have the app itself but are in countries where the connectivity is strained”

Ownership

Talk360 Group B.V, the company that runs the app was founded in June 2016 by Dean Hiine, Hans Osnabrugge, and Jorne Schamp. It is based in the Netherlands.

Talk360’s plan

This year Talk360 Group plans to launch the world’s first single checkout combining all local currencies and payment services for all Africans.

Since Africa has a diverse payment culture, Talk360 is working on a unique distribution network of digital and physical locations, they are also developing an agent referral program.
